Surfing
Rossnowlagh is one of Ireland’s and Europe’s best Blue Flag surfing beaches and is suitable for all level of surfers. The beach play hosts to a number of surfing event every year, including Eurosuf, Junior Championship, Intercounties Surfing Contests, etc. With its gentle waves, make it ideal for beginners to learn how to surf!

Walking Attractions
The Creek – The rocky inlet known as The Creek is an attractive place which is frequently used for bathing. Interesting shells and some rare specimens of plants may be found.
Reynolds’ Folly – When walking towards Ballyshannon, just after passing the Friary, the visitor will see a tower-like building standing on a hill to the left, This is known locally as the Tower, The Folly, or Reynolds’ Folly.
Lurgan Cairn – The best view to be seen within walking distance of Rossnowlagh is from Lurgan Cairn. On a clear day, with good visibility, portions of at least 6 counties, Donegal, Tyrone, Fermanagh, Cavan, Leitrim and Sligo, are visible.
The Franciscan Friary – Within walking distance of Smugglers Creek, you can visit the famous grounds of the Franciscan Friary with its own museum.
The Strand – it offers one of the most popular walks in Rossnowlagh. The Cockle Strand is about 2 miles from the centre of Rossnowlagh. Further along the strand a channel indicates where Durnesh Lake discharges into the sea. After crossing the channel the walker will come to Inishfad, a quieter beach that offers spectacular views across Donegal Bay.
Angling
Donegal has many unspoiled lakes and rivers that will give you an angling experience to remember. You can choose from Game, Coarse or Sea Angling activities.
Cycling
Featuring one of Donegal’s most spectacular views, cycling in and around Rossnowlagh with its small winding roads and ever changing landscape – some might say it is the best way to discover Donegal!
Golfing
With three of the Links Golf Courses in Donegal within 45 minutes drive, Smugglers Creek Inn provides a wonderful location for golfers to visit and play all year round.
